When you sneak through terraces, you can see the wear and tear, indentations in the steps, paint flaking away, cobbles and roof-tiles left in a state of disrepair. Even if the level designers were limited by the available technology, it never feels like they had to scale back their imagination. "There was a great moment in one level where I was skulking among the wooden supports of a harbour. Four guards lurked above – all of whom needed to be removed. The last to go was a chap smoking a cigarette on the edge of a pier, oblivious to my presence. I threw the blade, it stuck in his back, and he flopped into the water.
